Led the complete redesign of directional signage, floor plans, and safety notices aboard the accommodation vessel MV Isabelle for Bridgemans Floatel Ltd. Managed pre-press production and coordinated on-site installation.
M/V Isabelle — Large-Scale Vessel Wayfinding & Signage System
Overview & Background
Led the complete overhaul of the wayfinding and signage system for M/V Isabelle during its conversion from a Baltic cruise ferry into a commercial floatel (floating hotel) stationed in Canada. With multiple decks undergoining extensive renovations and repurposing, the vessel required an entirely new, clear, and standardized spatial navigation network across Decks 2 through 11.
Project Lifecycle & Technical Execution
Audit & Asset Inventory: Conducted a comprehensive on-site audit of all existing signage across the ship. Cataloged, photographed, measured, and assigned disposition actions (remove vs. redesign) for hundreds of physical assets into a structured database to drive material estimation and print procurement.
Design System & Standardization: Developed a unified visual framework, establishing consistent color palettes, typography, and clear spatial hierarchy tailored for maritime safety and guest navigation.
Large-Scale Production Engineering: Utilized Adobe Illustrator’s advanced batch-processing workflows (global styles, dynamic symbols, artboards) to systematically modify legacy files and design hundreds of new custom vector signs efficiently.
Procurement & On-Site Installation: Managed print specifications, material selection and vendor quotes across production partners. Active involvement in the physical installation phase ensured print quality and accurate placement aboard the vessel.
